Fall for this Autumn's Eye Makeup Looks
This blog post was written by Silvana Longo
This season brings more colour, drama and warmth to our peepers.
With fall in full bloom, spectacular foliage is everywhere you look! Whether you’re in the city or enjoying a country getaway up north, the beauty of nature inspires and prompts us to change things up. Makeup aficionados can agree: There’s a certain kind of excitement in the air during this time of year, which goes beyond the season of pumpkin spice lattes, falling leaves and sweater weather.
In this week’s blog post we will share the looks that caught our eye (pun intended) and show you how to get them.
Perpetual Blue
Barbie may have been the pioneer who donned blue eyeshadow back in 1959, however, this retro feel-good shade has showed up in some configuration every decade ever since. From Twiggy in the ‘60s to Kate Moss in the ‘90s, the Y2K revival now sees the likes of Kendall Jenner and Taylor Swift bringing it back to our peepers big time. Baby blue may have had its moment in the summer, its fall renaissance though extends to all tones of blue from bold and bright to softer cerulean variations, there is literally a sea of options of blue eye makeup looks that will fit anyone’s comfort level. And since blue is a universally flattering shade, despite eye colour or skin tone, there’s a blue eye makeup look for everyone.

For a single-toned, bright, statement-making look, try Magnetic Luminous Eye Color Pencil in Cote D’Azur. Our Magnetic Luminous collection provides a perfect satin finish that offers a daytime glow as well as a vibrant evening look. Or go a few shades lighter with our Magnetic Matte Eye Color Pencil in Oceania, a cool periwinkle blue that provides intense colour, precise lining and primes lids for all-day wear. Colour shy? Just dab this pretty periwinkle in the corner of the eyes to highlight and/or as an eyeliner for an unexpected swish of colour.
Where There’s Smoke…
The smoky eye - it is a look that doesn’t really go anywhere and with good reason. Sultry and smoldering, the 2022 take on the smoky eye gets its inspiration from the ‘90s. Smudged-out, it is slightly unstructured with a bit of a “slept-in” look; this grunge aesthetic is all about a bold, gritty, and imperfect makeup look that eschews popular culture with defiance.

Use a light shade like Angel or Gilt to prime the eyelid and even out the base. For day, try Queen Olive, a warm brown-green. Take it up a notch with Slate, a charcoal grey, for after-work cocktails. From Fig, a cool plum brown to rich Cocoa and oh so many shades in between remember to smudge out the liner for this rock n’ roll take on the look. The difference this time around is you don’t have to follow the smoky eye rule of pale lips. Be a rebel and choose hues that are just as rich in tone for lips.
BROWN IS BACK BIG TIME, BABY!
There’s something about a wash of cocoa that adds warmth and subtle definition to the gaze…softer than black, brown eye makeup has made a major comeback this season. From décor, fashion and now makeup, this versatile shade is flattering on all eye colours. It intensifies blue and green irises and brings out the gold flecks in brown and hazel eyes.

Try a “Soft Glam” monochromatic look using varying shades of brown from light (Taupe) on lids, medium chestnut (Immortal) in the crease to darkest chocolate brown (Gbaby) in the outer corner and along the lash line. Just smudge to soften look with fingers, a sponge or a brush. It’s simple. It’s glam. And lasts 11 hours - that’s longer than daylight hours at this time of year!
“The Magnetic Eye color is the perfect go-to for a stay-all-day look,” says Ally & Taylor Frankel, Co-founders at Nudestix. “Whether for day or night, the wash of matte and luminous colour on the lids add a touch of glamour to your nude look, just better!”
